Be sure to check out the latest issue of 3DWorld magazine, where I share my top 20 tips for modelling game assets.

“In this article I hope to share some of the tips and techniques I have learned in my seventeen years in the games industry, and today we will be looking at character modeling. Now, this won`t be a look at the high resolution models we create in ZBrush or Mudbox as these are already covered extensively, for a change we will investigate the lower resolution, in game geometry.

A lot of you may think this is redundant, and are possibly saying to yourselves, “Surely we just use the first division from our sculpted model?” or perhaps your glancing favourably at the retopology tools. These are all great starting points but can only get you so far, besides, what if you are working with a model which isn`t presculpted, or perhaps aimed for a mobile device?

For those times, and many more, I hope these simple rules will help as you work.”

I hope you enjoy it, and for more information on this issue of the magazine click HERE.
